about OUR product Collaborations
Artist & Designer Inspired
Our products are artist and designer inspired collaborations. Our first collaboration incorporates David Adickes’ portraits of The Beatles that inspired his famous 36-ft. concrete sculptures of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.
Art and fashion have long been intertwined. Here, I'm so thankful that Mr. Adickes has given me the unique opportunity to reinterpret his Beatles Collection of sculptures, paintings and illustrations as wearable works of art. I'm immensely blessed by Tina Zulu's enthusiastic desire to capture the essence of this artist inspiration through her original Japanese kimono designs.
For centuries, The Beatles wrote and sang about the hope that we all have for the world. And that's what The Brush Lounge and my PURE U Coaching practice are about - inspiring and lifting the voices and stories of women. Some of the Beatles top hits like ”Come Together,” “Here Comes the Sun”, “All You Need Is Love” “Imagine”, “Help” and “I want to hold your hand” still inspire hope for the world.
Meet David Adickes and Tina Zulu. David Adickes is a renowned Texas sculptor and artist also an accomplished clarinetist, playwright, and composer, who seems to get more done in one day than many people do in a lifetime, a true living treasure! Mr. Adickes said, "Art is more than just a creative outlet, art acts as a vehicle to inspire forces for change.“I’m happy to be able to use my Beatles art collection to support an effort like this that enriches the lives of people, particularly women on a path of self discovery. As I have listened to Monique talk about the women that she works with, it has inspired me to do something to support her dream to acquire a retreat style venue to provide a quiet escape for those on a path to PURE self discovery. "
Arriving at PURE U state is not discovery of a “new you”, it is a return to a “pure self” that you’ve always been. I too am fond of The Beatles. The band was regarded as one of the most influential bands of all times. Many of the women that Monique is working with through her program PURE U were born in the 60s and grew up in the 70’s and 80’s.” - David Adickes.
Art and fashion have long been intertwined. Mr. Adickes has given me the unique opportunity to reinterpret his Beatles Collection of sculptures, paintings and illustrations as wearable works of art. Kimono Zulu is a creative exploration led by Tina Zulu, a Filipina-American who is sharing a collection of her reimagined vintage Japanese kimonos. Through artist collaborations, Tina Zulu inspires and initiates the visual conversation for artists to incorporate their own design sensibilities into the vision for brands, bringing new life to vintage kimonos in a thoughtful, beautiful and often playful way. The reimagined kimonos are embellished and modernized to be enjoyed as unique, one-of-a-kind pieces of wearable art.

Her book is titled, “In Search of the Authentic Lisa A. Thomas." In our conversation Lisa opens up about her life as a lesbian. This is not a conversation of judgement. I have no issue with the LBGT community. At The Brush, we allow space for all people. Lisa was 53 when she discovered that she wasn’t gay or lesbian. She talks about how she was introduced to homosexuality by a trusted leader of her church who was married and had a family. While the relationship was hidden, she was young and unaware of what was truly happening that led to many years of a life defined by the labels, none of which were her own. Please listen with empathy and an open mind.
